Dec 23rd Update!

If you are in the Lake County area and somehow your collection box was missed, please deliver the box and toys to:  1721 N McAree Rd, Waukegan IL.  While these toys will not be distributed in 2009, they will enable us to have a great head start for the 2010 campaign.

Public support has been outstanding, and we were able to fill every request.  We were even able to help some that registered late because of this outpouring of support.  The Lake County campaign was able to distribute many more toys than last year, and monetary support was also up.  My hope is that every child receiving a toy from Toys for Tots is very happy.

Many recipients spent time volunteering their services before they picked up toys for their children.  Your assistance is appreciated - more than we can say on a simple web posting!  One mother even brought her children in to help!     

I will be on leave beginning today, but will return in 2010.

-Toys HAVE to be new and unwrapped. The Marine Corps wants to give less fortunate children the new gift of hope.


The Holiday Season is approaching and before you know it Christmas will be here. As the new Waukegan and Northern Lake County Tots for Tots Coordinator, I look forward to a successful season making sure that every child receives a little something for Christmas.

OTHER WAYS TO HELP OUT THE TOYS FOR TOTS FOUNDATION THROUGH FOUNDATION SPONSORS!!!

1.  Build-A-Bear Workshops are collecting toys November 7th & 8th and cash donations during the month of           December.

2.  Bruegger's Bagels are making a cash contribution to the Toys for Tots Foundation.

3.  Coca-Cola Company is allowing people who collect MyCoke Reward Points to redeem them for toys through Toys for Tots during November and December.

4.  Connie Talbot, the Toys for Tots Littlest Ambassador for 2009, will donate $1.00 for each Christmas CD (Holiday Magic) she sells, as well as a portion of the proceeds from the sale of her Toys for Tots bracelet. She will mention Toys for Tots during her Christmas Holiday show this December on PBS television. Please support her, should she tour in your city, and consider giving her CD and bracelet as gifts.

5.  Denny's will make a cash contribution to the Toys for Tots Foundation and are accepting $1.00 donations from customers. Please visit your local Denny's to help your community's 2010 program.

6.  E-bay will display a link to make donations on their website from December 14th through December 20th.

7.  For every GI Joe sold this holiday season, Hasbro will make one toy donation to Toys for Tots.

8.  1-800-FLOWERS will make a cash donation to Toys for Tots with the purchase of certain types of flowers during November and December.

9.  Maurices and Dress Barn will both be making cash contributions to the Foundation as well as being toy drop-off locations in many of their stores. Please contact your local store for details.

10.  The Picture People will make a cake donation to the Toys for Tots Foundation.  They will also be a drop-off location for toys. Please contact your local store for details.

11.  Toys R' Us and Babies R US will be collecting cash donations till December 24th. They will be promoting Toys for Tots in the media with the help of NBA Star Shaquille O'Neal.  The Marines will be at the Local Toys R US in Gurnee on the 5th and 6th to help kick off their Collection Season. Toys R Us is the biggest corporate sponsor for the Toys for Tots Foundation.

12.  The UPS Store and Mailboxes Etc is the exclusive sponsor for the new Toys for Tots Literacy Program where books are purchased for less fortunate children.

13. Wachovia Bankswill donate $1.00 for each Visa Gift Card purchased during the months of November and December.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Toys for Tots individuals WILL NOT go door to door, or call your residence soliciting money in any way. If you are approached by any person selling items for Toys for Tots please contact authorities or report information to my contact phone number so I can handle the situation.

Parents requesting toys:

From OCTOBER 1ST through DECEMBER 3RD you wll be able to call one of my distributors closest to your location and register your child(ren). You will need: their gender, ages, address, phone and guardian name. You will not be allowed to collect a toy from more than one of my locations.

To my distributors:

Thank you for your help in this years 2009 Toys for Tots Campaign. I will be updating you with information as soon as I get it. On DECEMBER 3RD we will stop collecting names for registration to receive toys. I hope to meet for lunch on December 4th and go over registered names and discuss and duplicates and decide which site will contact and distribute to those individuals. Thank you for getting me all your distribution dates. You can find these under the events Tab off to the right of the main page.

Let's make sure we see smiling kids this Christmas.

Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public charity is the fund raising, funding and support organization for the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. The Foundation was created at the behest of the U. S. Marine Corps and provides support in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding with the Commander, Marine Forces Reserve, who directs the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. The Foundation has supported Toys for Tots since 1991.

The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.
